Reinvention

Robert Plant had it right, charming, ageing hippy, when he talked of the end of his naivety. Like CBGB’s being closed down on the Bowery in NYC, and becoming a consumable book for Abrams’ profits, or editors’ beliefs they are ‘doing the thing’. The edited versions of messy, extraordinary real life, made by artists, that in some cases ends only in ‘no wave’. Whatever group thinks they know you are a million miles away, said Plant, but reinvent yourself. I didn’t know though that Michael Caine claims he predicted the twin towers in am unfinished book he was writing. Perhaps it’s going on all the time. I hope he doesn’t believe he made it happen.
