If those vital, unseen social services are threatened first by Government cuts, made too often in the offices of the culturally ignorant, residents in the UK have just proved their reader power, by voting with their Library Cards. In protest about Council plans in the Buckinghamshire village of Stony Stratford to close their library, the locals got together to empty the shelves entirely of 16,000 volumes, by uniting to withdraw their maximum allowance of books. We can’t wait to see the movie, but we hope they will return the volumes, when and if the Council relents!
