Astonishing, almost unbelievable news. The Secretary General’s Office in New York and Ban Ki-Moon have just come in to back Phoenix Ark Press and lift the project to publish Light of the White Bear to 100%. Hooray. We did it!

1) Melting ice in the arctic is the most critical threat to the world at the moment and you’ll be waking up to the issue of our times and helping too. Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General, has launched a crisis summit in New York in September. Shouldn’t we all stop hearing ‘told you so‘and walking about asleep ?

2) David’s work isn’t message based first but reaches toward uniting myth and science, the wonder, in rich animal fiction. Perhaps we can only understand it by understanding the amazement and struggle of life on earth, including us. The story behind Light of the White Bear is one of astonishment too.

3) There is NO WAY close friends and a New York publisher should be allowed to get away with what they did to a human being, published novels and a contracted, leading author. In the end it was the system at work in its more cynical form and a writer, fans and working conditions did not matter a damn.

Yippee, my friend Marci B on the magic isle of Corfu pledged too, so now we can really have a party! All’s right in the world and the sun is shining again. There they are, Marci and Di,on Prospero’s Isle, as we all struggle with the bloody worrying, wonderful world and may be right down there, sometimes, but keep looking at the stars. I’ve been a hurt, lost sap and I’m sorry, but the privilege I have just touched again has been a wonderful thing.

David has being trying to speak straight to fans again about Light of The White Bear, if they haven’t all grown up, so puts up a new video, with only 16 days to go on Kickstarter, about inspirations, writing, his travelling experiences and a wolf snog in Colorado! He also reads some of the wonderful comments from supporters and inspired by Kelly talks about the call of the wild and the needed call to arms.

You can’t do anything about the past, can you, so time to drop it forever! I’m sorry too, to my real fans and readers here, I mean, that Kickstarter films have talked far too much about other things and not really the book, Light of The White Bear. So with three weeks to go, to turn that around right now!

We are at 15%, in a week, with 22 kind backers, which with three more weeks to come would take it to 60% but since the voices say most pledges come in the last 10 days there is still hope! Difficult, especially if it doesn’t jump dramatically this week, but never say die. But of course it’s those who have read my stories I need now, not spooks just there for the show, in so many visitors recently to Phoenix Ark Press. There should be 300,000 fans out there somewhere though! Fans and readers like Yasmin, who gave another fantastic Pledge and also wrote this: “There are only two authors that I can say that have had a profound influence on my life and you are one of them.”

That makes me prouder than anything, and kicks Kickstarter into a cocked hat, win or lose, but it has been said by others, perhaps a part of the natural generosity of younger people too, if they like your work, because younger readers are actually more critical than any other. Which made and makes Young Adult Fantasy such a rare privilege. Right now I admit I need a bit of help too and some of that inspiration back again.

So back to the source, how I started out, what animal fantasy is really about, and to that perennial game everyone loves to play, if you (or so and so) were an animal, what animal would you be?! Perhaps what is your favourite animal too. Then some thoughts about what pledges bring, what has happened in this campaign and how to get Light of The White Bear into real print. It’s time to try and tell great stories again, to have fun and to share that with everyone, which you can see by CLICKING HERE

Only those who know the true story of this blog will quite understand the cause of disillusionment and grief for an author and what really drove him from main stream publishing, if it exists anymore, and the trust of supposed close friends and colleagues. If fact is stranger than fiction it’s a story that went on so long and involved so much it is almost unbelievable. But never let the b’s get you down, or yourself!

This year David Clement-Davies returns to animal fantasy and will at last publish the novel Scream of the White Bear to both ebook and hard copy, that fans have been made to wait for far too long. Those who understand will forgive the wait. Now though, in the spirit of growth and adventure it is being renamed Light of the White Bear. Let the battle continue and the polar bears blaze from the frozen north!
